Ex Manchester United legend Paul Scholes will be coming out of retirement and lacing up his boots again on Sunday 31st May at Mossley F.C. in aid of the Believe & Achieve Trust, a local charity that was set up in memory of Alex Williams.
Alex, who was from Ashton, spent most of his short life passionately raising awareness about meningitis as well as fundraising for a charity very close to his heart, the Meningitis Trust. In 2012 he was Tameside’s choice to carry the Olympic torch through the borough in the build up to the London Olympics.
The match will be between The Alex Williams All Stars and a team of Manchester City Old Boys, with Paul Scholes turning out for the All Stars. It’s the third year in a row the match has taken place and Paul Scholes will have his work cut out, last year the All Stars fell to an 8-0 defeat. Get yourself down to Mossley F.C.'s Seel Park on sunday 31st May at 2pm.
