The rehoming centre, based in Denton, has already helped find new homes for 988 dogs this year, but the kennels are currently full with more than 70 four-legged friends being cared for and waiting for new homes.

Included in the the dogs looking for a forever home is six-year-old Terrier cross Obi.

Obi was brought to the trust a year ago, but every time he heads off to a new home he has been brought back.

Dogs home staff are hoping Obi could be the chosen one for a new owner in the new year.

Best pals Beau and Meg are a doggy duo are also looking for a home together as they are inseparable

Beau, six, a French Mastiff, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Meg, never tire of meeting new people and other dogs.

Three-year-old Collie Zac is a very bright dog who likes keeping busy and having a job to do, he is a bit scared of traffic, so his ideal home is somewhere rural, where he can explore the outdoors on long walks.

Ex racer Greyhound Blake, six, enjoys walkies but is also a couch potato and loves curling up for a nap.

never had the chance to live in a home and owners may need to help him learn the basics, but he is a quick learner.

Dawn Bishop, rehoming centre manager, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has given a forever home to one of our dogs this year.

“Sadly, we know the New Year will see many more abandoned and unwanted dogs coming through our doors even before the Christmas decorations are taken down as dogs are often bought without people really considering what’s involved in looking after them properly.

“If anyone is thinking they would like a dog to be part of their family, we hope they come along to us for advice and consider giving one of our dogs a second chance.”

Anybody interested in rehoming any of the dogs can visit the centre at Parkway, Denton.

The dogs home is open 12pm-7.30pn during the week, apart for Wednesdays, and 10am-4pm at the weekends.
