FROM November 11 to 13, the communities making up Tameside will be again be holding services and ceremonies to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Cllr Philip Fitzpatrick, the Civic Mayor of Tameside, said: “Today, with our forces still serving around the world, remembrance events are as important as ever and I urge residents to attend the special ceremonies across our borough and to pay their respects to our brave servicemen and women past and present.”
November 11
Ashton
Act of remembrance at the family statue on Market Street/Fletcher Street 10.50am. Ceremony will include two-minute silence at 11am.
Hyde
Godley
Godley Hill Road memorial, 10.50am.
November 12
Audenshaw
Service at Ryecroft Hall memorial stone 10.30am.
Droylsden
Littlemoss
Service in memorial gardens 2.30pm.
November 13
Ashton
Central
Parade assembles at Ashton Market Hall 9am and proceeds to Ashton Parish Church for 9.45am service. Afterwards, parade moves to war memorial in St Michael’s Square .
Cockbrook
Service in St Gabriel’s Church, Stamford Street, at 10.55am. Wreath-laying 12.30pm.
Hurst
Service in St John’s Church, Kings Road, 9.30am, followed by procession to Hurst Cemetery memorial for wreath-laying at 11am.
Park Bridge
Service at Park Bridge Institute memorial 10.45am.
Waterloo
Parade leaves Canon Burrows School, Oldham Road, 2pm for war-memorial service 2.30pm.
Audenshaw
Service at Audenshaw Cemetery memorial 3pm.
Denton
Central
Parade leaves Denton West End WMC, Grosvenor Street, 10.10am. Stop at remembrance garden before continuing to Denton Town Hall. Parade reassembles there at 10.20am and proceeds to Victoria Park memorial for service at 10.45am.
Haughton Green
Service in St Mary’s Church at 10.30am.
Denton West
Wreath-laying at Thornley Park memorial 1.30pm.
Droylsden
Parade leaves Church Street 10am for Droylsden War Memorial where service starts10.45am.
Dukinfield
Parade leaves town hall at 2.45pm for Chapel Hill war memorial where service starts 3pm.
Park Road
Tame Valley memorial, Dukinfield Cemetery, at 10.45am. Ceremony led by St John’s Scouts and Cubs.
Hyde
Central
Parade leaves Greenfield Street 2pm and heads to Hyde Central Methodist Church, Norfolk Street, for 2.20pm service. Then to town hall for wreath-laying at 3.30pm. After this wreaths laid at the Falklands Tree, Stockport Road.
Newton
Parade leaves Rosemount Methodists, Bennett Street, 10am, for George and Dragon memorial, Bennett Street, for service at 10.15am.
Werneth Low
Parade leaves Lower Higham Visitor Centre, Higham Lane, at 11.45am for Werneth Low memorial where service takes place at noon (vehicular access available).
Longdendale
Broadbottom
Parade leaves Broadbottom Community Centre, Lower Market Street, 10.30am for war memorial where act of remembrance 10.45am.
Hollingworth
Service at Hollingworth Methodist Church, Water Lane, at 10am followed by parade to Mottram Moore war memorial for wreath-laying at 10.50am.
Mottram
Service in Mottram Parish Church 10.30am.
Mossley
Service at 10.50am at war memorial at former Mossley Town Hall, Mossley Park. Followed by procession to the George Lawton Hall.
Stalybridge
Parade leaves Armentieres Square at 10.35am for Trinity Street war memorial where service begins 10.55am.
