Hyde United secured Seven points from a possible nine over the Christmas & New year period and a home win over neighbours Glossop North End who are third sees the Tigers looking at a bright 2017.
Hyde started the game well but Glossop North End looked the more likely to score with their direct football. It was no surprise when North End took the lead in the 26th minute through seasoned professional Mike Norton who scored from a loose ball six yards  out from the Hyde goal. Despite a fightback from the Tigers Glossop went in 1-0 up at half time.

Hyde came out of the blocks with renewed energy and pressed Glossop from the off. It wasnt long before their incisive play was rewarded when Ryan White fired in a perfect left foot cross into the Glossop goalmoth which was headed into the net by Matthew Beadle, his third goal in three games.

As the half wore on it looked only a matter of time before the Tigers scored a second as they constantly pressed the visitors goal. However it was Glossop who managed to find the net in the 87th minute, fortunately for Hyde the goal was ruled offside. In the final minute of added time Pete Boyle back healed the ball to Dave McGurk who rocketed the ball into the net from  six yards out sending the Tigers into wild celebrations as they ran out worthy 2-1 winners
