RESIDENTS in Audenshaw are being asked for their ideas and involvement to make their local park even better.

Locals have joined forces with ward councillors and Council staff to set up a Friends Group for Shepley Park, in Cemetery Road.

The well-used park hosted a family fun day in July as part of national Love Parks Week and, following on from the event, the group is keen to develop an action plan to help secure a Green Flag Award for the site.

Ward Councillor Maria Bailey said: “Shepley Park is a popular park for local people and we are hoping it  can follow in the footsteps of Ryecroft Hall in obtaining a Green Flag Award. We are seeking ideas from local residents and users of the park for how they would wish the park to be enhanced and how they can get actively involved in this.”

Anyone wishing to be involved with the Friends Group can contact one other Audenshaw councillors - Maria Bailey, Teresa Smith or Oliver Ryan - or just turn up to or next meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday 13 October at New Charter Hub, 38 Rowcon Close, Audenshaw.
