Move over Northern Quarter, Chorlton and West Didsbury, two Denton residents are hoping to redress the beer balance in Greater Manchester by opening the town’s first micropub.

Adam Cordingley and Chris Marsden will bring craft beer to uncharted territory in Civic Square, Denton when The Crown Point Tavern launches in May.

“It may not be an obvious location, but we’re surrounded by good breweries” said Adam, referring to the likes of Tweed Brew Co, TicketyBrew and Thirst Class Ale.

“We want to promote local real ale and provide somewhere to drink for those who leave Denton every weekend for a pint.

"We’re surrounded by other pubs but we don’t see ourselves as competition for them; we want to provide a friendly, comfortable drinking space for those interested in ale.”

The Crown Point Tavern will be a welcome addition to Tameside's growing ale scene, joining pubs and bars such as Stalybridge Buffet Bar and the town's newly-opened Bridge Beers and Browtons bottle shop and bar in Ashton-under-Lyne.
