The Uk's largest dog welfare charity "The Dog's Trust" has opened it's first centre in Greater Manchester at MyPetShop a former boarding kennels and cattery on the Parkway in Denton.
The new centre will open in October and will have a capacity for 88 dogs. There will be glass fronted kennels, underfloor heating, air conditioning, a vet's area and a space for the dog's to exercise. There were more than 16,000 strays found in the North West last year. The centre in Denton is looking to rehome 1,000 dogs per year.
Hannah Barker from the Dog's trust said "It's going to be a great place and we have been made very welcome by the local community". The Dog's trust are looking for local dog lovers to volunteer to help out at the centre for a minimum of 4 hours a week to help with a wide variety of tasks.
