New climbing centre opens in Droylsden

An exciting new attraction Sky High Adventure at Active Medlock in Droyslden is ready for action with doors opening to the public on 3 August.
The climbing centre, developed by Active Tameside with the backing of Tameside Council, is the first Sky High Adventure to open in the north west and is packed with a range of thrilling challenges.
 
As well as providing an active day out for families from Tameside and beyond, it will cater for schools, young people and adults with a disability or additional needs, corporate team building, youth groups and parties.
 
The centre has been built at no cost to the Council, with Active Tameside’s investment expected to more than pay for itself within 10 years, It has also created sixteen new jobs in the local area.
 
Indoor climbing activities for all ages, including the ‘Skyscraper’, a death-defying climb up the side of a building, the ‘Leap of Faith’, a jump from a seriesof platforms suspended in mid-air and the ‘Iron Chimney’, a vertical climb up the inside of a narrow tower.
 
There will also be a Commando Climb Gym, a Speed Climbing challenge and an illuminated climbing challenge up ‘The Dark Tower’ as well as an indoor caving feature, indoor high ropes, a soft play area, a large multi-use activity room, party rooms and café.
 
A spokesman for the Centre said:
 
“It will also be great to see more people using and benefitting from Active Medlock, which has previously been underused.”
