The Queen Elizabeth 11 field on Copperas lane in Droylsden known as "Copperas Field" has become the latest green space in Tameside to be given the prestigious Community Green Flag Award.

The group of volunteers who look after the fields "The Friends of Copperas Fields" were described by Tameside Council as a "committed group who were continually working hard to create an attractive area for people of all ages to relax and enjoy".

The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards the best open spaces in Britain. Last year Tameside won 12 awards.
