FOR anyone who has a little Peter Pan about their character, and has never fully grown up, the new exhibition at Portland Basin Museum should be a real treat.
Toy Box Tales, which opens on Saturday, April 6, looks back at playthings that have entertained children – and older generations – since Victorian times. It offers a chance to step back in time and explore toys and games from the past.
Items on display include books, jigsaws, card and board games, dolls and teddies, as well as much-loved classics ranging from Scalextric, Lego, My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Toy Story and Thunderbirds through to Atari and gaming memorabilia.
There will also be a fun interactive area with lots of games and toys to play with, and a dressing up area for children.
Portland Basin Museum, which is in Portland Place, Ashton, is open 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Admission is free. For more information call 0161 343 2873.
