Dogs Trust Manchester is hoping to find a homeless mum left behind after her eight pups headed off to their forever homes, a loving family of her own in time for Mother’s Day.
Three-year-old Cleo gave birth to four girls and four boys just days after arriving at the Denton centre last October. After being the perfect mum to the lively litter, she then had to say a fond farewell as one by one they left in the arms of their new owners.
But sadly, Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cleo is still looking for her forever family having been overlooked by thousands of visitors, and the team are at a loss as to why she hasn’t yet stolen someone’s heart. Now they are hoping some motherly love will head her way this Mother’s Day.
Lesley O’Donoghue, Deputy Manager at the Rehoming Centre, said:
“She did an amazing job as a mum. It was a large litter and of course she’d been through a huge change to her life just days before giving birth, so we are all so proud of how she coped.
“She is an adorable little dog with lots of love to give, so we can’t believe she is with us almost five months after arriving.”
Now her time is no longer taken up being a full-time mum, Cleo has found her feet and loves long walks, playing with her toys and learning new things.
“She is really lively and a quick learner so it’d be great for her new family to continue doing fun training with her, but she loves her cuddles too!” says Lesley. “We know all her pups are now happy in their new homes, and that’s all we want for her too. She really deserves it.”
Cleo is looking for a home where she is the only dog and would suit a family with children no younger than eleven.
