Tameside Hospital has made a festive music video to thank staff for their hard work in 2014.
The hospital, which remains in special measures, recorded a light-hearted Christmas song performed to the tune of the Shakin’ Stevens Yuletide classic Merry Christmas Everyone.
In the video, featuring chief executive Karen James, staff wear garish Christmas jumpers, Santa hats and novelty headbands and they perform the conga and can-can-style dance moves along with the song. The song, has been leaked onto the video sharing website YouTube.
It changes the lyrics to the original 1985 number one hit to: “Things are changing, here at Tameside. Some great team work to move us on. Lots of good work and some understanding. Merry Christmas, everyone.
“Time for caring and compassion, meeting every patients’ need. Open, honest and transparent. Quality and safety take the lead.
“We want to say a big thank you to you. You’ve worked so hard this year, don’t you know we recognise that there’s still a lot to do.”
John Goodenough, Director of nursing said: “The team at Tameside Hospital have worked tirelessly over the last 12 months to improve the services for our patients. We wanted to say a little thank-you and a merry Christmas for all the effort that they have put in."
