Aldwinians had no game today, Ashton and DUKINFIELD rugby clubs both played in two very hard fought matches.
Ashton rugby club recorded a narrow win in Liverpool, beating St.Edwards O.B., who have only won one game all season. In the first half Ashton's poor tackling allowed the home side to press forward resulting in St.Edwards taking the lead after the halfway mark. This seemed to stir Ashton into action and sustained pressure resulted in Jack Pedder breaking through the home line for a touch down, which was converted by Thomas Jackson. Ashton scored a further try through Tom Costello and although they were now leading the home side continued to put pressure on, when Ashton conceded a penalty right at the death tensions were high in the Ashton camp, fortunately the ensuing kick and chase saw the ball bounce over the line to end the game. Ashton ran out 19-14 winners.
Ashton's try scorers were Jack Pedder, Lug Djvrabekov and Thomas Jackson converted Twice.
DUKINFIELD Rugby Club only lost by a single point going down 6-5 to Moore in the South Lancs. and Cheshire Division 2.
