Tameside local Studies and Archives Centre in Cotton Street in Ashton, is holding a launch to celebrate the publication of a new book “Ashton-under-Lyne in the Great War” by Glynis Cooper.
The book looks at the effect the war had on Ashton. The difficulties and hardships people faced are set against their enduring community spirit, resilience, and desire to keep the home fires burning by providing munitions and comforts for the troops.

The launch will take place on Tuesday, July 7, between 11am and 2pm. There will be refreshments in the atrium and copies will be available for sale.
