PORTLAND Basin was highlighted for bringing history alive for children on the new CBeebies show Treasure Champs.
The BBC show, broadcast on 4 February, focused on the theme ‘empathy’ and followed two local children visiting the museum to find out about life in Victorian times.
They dressed up in Victorian clothes and were shown around a Victorian kitchen, parlour and outside toilet by a ‘Victorian housewife’, played by an actress from 2 Boards & A Passion.
Afterwards the children enjoyed ice creams by the canal side and said they enjoyed finding out about what Victorian life was like.
You can watch the programme again here - Portland Basin is featured 8 minutes in.
