Sam Morton-Herod founder of Keyed Up Training in Ashton-Under-Lyne has launched a unique programme aimed at providing young people secure employment within the care industry.
Sam said"The Care Academy is something I am very passionate about. I want young people to be supported and trained so that they can find a great job and cut out a brilliant career in care". She is working very closely with schools and colleges in Tameside providing help for students to assess the many career paths in care such as elderly care, dementia care, learning difficulties and substance abuse.
Candidates who are selected for a career in the care industry then start a four day induction course where students will create a c.v. explore job opportunities and work experience with a view to gaining permanent employment.
Sam described the " Care Academy Training Programme" as "different from any other because we will find students an eight week work experience placement with the idea of them getting a job at the end of it,so many young people are doing training that leads to nothing. I know the opportunities in the care industry and we will help our students find them".
