IT’S the time of year for giving and the Tameside community is being encouraged to bring some Christmas spirit to local families in need.
Tameside Council is helping to coordinate collections for foodbanks across the borough as well as donation of children’s gifts for Tameside 4 Good’s Toy Appeal.
People can drop off donations for food and toys/gifts at any Tameside Library or alternatively Customer Services in Clarence Arcade, Ashton.

Please drop off foodbank donations by Friday 8 December and ensure use by dates are after 25 December 2017.
Tameside 4 Good’s Toy Appeal aims to ensure every child, from new-born to 18, living in poverty in Tameside receives a Christmas present. Donations of toys and gifts must be new and unused please. Donations can be dropped off up to Friday 15 December.
Council staff are also organising their own collections, including chocolate selection boxes, for local children, families and incividuals living in poverty.
