UNPRECEDENTED conditions have done nothing to dampen spirits at Tameside Adult Services.
Despite the coronavirus lockdown and the increasing challenges it poses, the various council teams are working round the clock to make sure vital support is available to large numbers of people across the borough such as care-home residents and those living in their own homes.
Through their unstinting efforts, staff over a wide range of services - including support workers, community response service wardens, social workers, reablement (people helping those with poor physical or mental health master important life skills) and many other roles - are keeping people safe.
Cllr Eleanor Wills, Tameside Council's executive member for health social care, commented: "I would like to publicly thank our staff who are showing impressive dedication in these very difficult times. Day after day they are displaying total commitment to the most vulnerable people in the borough.
"We should also bear in mind that many of these services which ensure that people are safe and maintaining contact with others are provided over a 24-hour period, seven days a week.
"I want to reassure everyone we deal with that when it comes to Tameside Adult Social Care the health and well-being of the people we care for has always been, and will continue to be, our number-one priority.
"That will remain as we change and adapt to cope with the biggest health emergency the world has known for 100 years."
