The deadline for receiving applications to register to vote for Tameside residents is 20 April and the deadline for receiving new applications for postal or proxy votes is 21 April.
You can register online, the process takes less than five minutes at www.gov.uk/registertovote, you just need to have your National Insurance number handy.
Tameside Council has written to every home in the borough with details of who is currently on the electoral register at each property. Anyone living in the property, but whose name is not on the letter, should register online as soon as possible.
Tameside Council Returning Officer Steven Pleasant said “It is important that all Tameside residents eligible to vote are registered. The registration process is quick and straightforward. Don’t leave it too late and lose your chance to vote.
