This weekend sees the start of the Tameside Christmas Market in Ashton Market square.
There will be an ice rink and ferris wheel alongside other attractions aswell as 30 stalls housed in traditional wooden cabins.

There will also be live entertainment from local groups, carol singers and brass bands. Shoppers can look for Christmas gifts, including candles, jewellery and accessories, and treat themselves to festive food and drink including barbecued meat skewers, waffles, hot chocolate and mulled wine.
Starting on Saturday it will run for three weeks until December 21 and will be open Monday to Wednesday 10am to 7.30pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am to 9.30pm and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. The official opening celebrations are on Sunday between 5pm and 7pm with a lantern parade via Penny Meadow and Wellington Road before finishing in front of Ashton town hall, as well as fireworks and the Christmas tree lights switch-on.
Frozen’s Princess Elsa will be opening the synthetic ice skating rink on December 2.
