Stalybridge Celtic manager Liam Watson has brought in another three players to Bower Fold. Watson now has now 14 signed on for next season and Celtic have realistic hopes of mounting a push for promotion from the National League North.
The latest arrivals are goalkeeper Tony McMillan, midfielder Ryan Wade and striker Alex Johnson.
McMillan played under Watson at Southport from July 2008 until being released in March 2013.
The 33-year-old ended that season with Altrincham before spending the last two campaigns with Barrow. Wade arrives from Airbus UK while Johnson has just left Guiseley.
They follow left-back Danny Wisdom and striker Steven Tames in joining Stalybridge. Wisdom arrives from Skelmersdale United while Tames played under Watson at Southport and started last term at Hyde.
Ben McKenna has been the latest Celtic player to re-sign for next season.
Stalybridge lost just one of their last eight games to stay in non-league’s second tier on goal difference, after Watson succeeded Keith Briggs in March. Manager Liam is anticipating great things next season
“We’ve got speed, size and strength across the board, all qualities you need to do well in this league "
“We’ve also got the majority of the squad in place early which means there’ll be no unpleasant surprises when we kick off in August.
“It’s important to get off to a good start and the lads will have had plenty of time to get to know each other.
“we will probably have more signings in the next couple of weeks and then it’s down to the serious business of getting this club to the level it deserves to be at.”
