GET set for a sizzling new taste sensation. Tameside is going to get its very own super sausage, designed by local children.
Pearson’s Butchers in Ashton Market Hall – a member of the prestigious Q Guild - is linking up with Tameside’s primary schools for a competition to create a unique banger.
Mark Pearson said: “We want youngsters to help us create a tasty new sausage to enter into the Q Guild’s Smithfield Awards. It can be beef or pork with up to three additional ingredients. We frequently use vegetables, fruit and different spices, so anything goes.”
Schools had until June 5 to submit their ideas. Pearson’s are now making the sausages and the public will be able to sample them - and vote for their favourite - between Monday, June 13, and Saturday, June 18.
The winners will be invited to see their sausages being made, get some packs to take home, and receive a special trophy. They will also get to name this latest addition to Pearson’s highly-acclaimed range.
John Taylor, deputy leader of Tameside Council, who will present the winners with their prizes on Saturday, June 25, added: “This competition is an ingenious way of promoting Ashton and Ashton Market Hall.
“I’m sure the youngsters will come up with some great ideas and I’m looking forward to tasting them.”
