Singer song writer Amy Griffiths is appearing at the "Q" Inn on Market Street in Stalybridge on the 23rd of September, from 8.30pm.
Writing songs since the age of 8 and gigging at 15 Amy has been singing since she can remember. With her new solo EP on the way and many acoustic & band gigs ahead of her, the future looks busy and exciting. Her acoustic songs reflect certain happenings explained in turn at gigs. These vary from stories of unrequited love to wishes of moving to ‘Jupiter’ – which is the title track of her solo EP being released in summer 2015! Acoustic shows are personal but also include a mixture of interpretive covers from artists such as Sam Cooke, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bonnie Raitt.
The 20 year old singer and songwriter from Glossop balances studying at Leeds College of Music, writing material, fronting two bands, performing acoustically, building a portfolio of journalistic writings and teaching drama in Huddersfield. Her strong influences include songstress Carole King and rock goddess Janis Joplin. This being said, Amy has performed as the lead vocalist of a rock cover band for the last three years and has continued her love for rock music with an alternative rock band in Leeds who write their material together. Other collaborations include pop duo’s and a recent Americana-style project. Her voice itself is often described as ‘powerful’ and ‘soulful’.
