Thousands of bright yellow plastic ducks will be adding a splash of colour to Stalybridge as they "race" down the Huddersfield Canal on Sunday 7th June in aid of Willow Wood Hopsice.
The Head of Fundraising at the Hospice John Fellowes said: "We hope to launch the ducks at about 10.30am, next to the lock gates in Armentieres Square. The ducks will be "encouraged" to the finishing line by members of Stalybridge Canoe club as there is little, if any, current on the canal to help them on their way. The event always provides a lot of fun and this year will be no different."
John continued: "Over the years our annual duck race has raised over £22,000 for the Hospice and is a firm favourite especially with our younger supporters."
You can "adopt" a duck for the race. Ducks are available at Tesco, from the Hospice Reception or by visiting the Hospice shop in Grosvenor Street, Stalybridge, the White House in the centre of Stalybridge or the Yorkshire Bank on Melbourne Street. Ducks cost £1 and prizes will be awarded to the owners of the first three ducks across the line.
